Pinpoint: Bluetooth Finder
Getting started
- Open Pinpoint and allow Bluetooth.
- Pick a device in Nearby and tap Find it.
- Walk slowly and follow Warmer / Colder. Tap Found it when you have it.
Common questions
- A device doesn't appear.
- Pinpoint hears devices that are switched on and advertising over Bluetooth Low Energy. Wake the device (open the earbud case, tap the watch). Devices that are off, out of battery or connected exclusively to another phone may not advertise.
- The distance looks wrong.
- Distance is estimated from signal strength. Walls, pockets and bodies weaken the signal. Use Setup › Calibrate with the device one meter away.
- Why doesn't the radar show the direction?
- A phone's Bluetooth radio measures strength, not direction. Use Find it: walk a few steps and watch whether it gets warmer or colder.
- The left-behind alert didn't fire.
- It needs a device that accepts Bluetooth connections, notifications allowed for Pinpoint, and Bluetooth on. Many earbuds only accept connections while out of their case.
- Does the tracker check prove I'm being tracked?
- No. It helps you notice tags that stay with you. Tags change their addresses over time, and a family member's bag gives the same pattern. If you feel unsafe, contact local authorities.
- How do I delete my data?
- Forget a device in Mine (this deletes its log), clear the heard list and custom names in Setup, or delete the app to remove everything.
